Brennie Murphy & Robert Manning Sculling Challenge

On Monday, May 14th at 6:30pm we will run our annual sculling challenge which is a memorial race for Brennie Murphy and Robert Manning.

The sculling race is open to club members from all ages and ability but bear in mind we have a limited number of sculling boats!

Competitive squad scullers can please contact your coaches to secure an entry spot and all others can please contact both Kev and the Captain.

* Time handicaps will be applied based on age/ability.
*The race runs from The White Light to the Clubhouse.
* We have a perfect evening tide and fingers crossed the weather will be with us. Plan B might be to run the event on Tuesday, May 15th.
* Safety launches and marshals will be in place and there will be a safety briefing prior to launching which all competitors must attend.
Winners will be presented with the much coveted St. Michael's Rowing Club tie pin.

Tea and Coffee will be available and it would be great to see all our St Michael’s members in the club to help celebrate the lives and memories of Brennie and Robert.

Thanks & well done

We want to send a massive thank you to all our volunteers who helped us fulfill our duties at the Limerick Regatta and School's Regatta. It's an important fundraiser for us and without you all we simply couldn't have done it. We appreciate your help very much.

Just as important of course, well done to all our crews last weekend. We had some excellent racing with lots of crews getting into finals and we medalled a number of times;
Ryan in the MJ18 1x
Ryan/Dylan MI 2x
Sarah/Nell WI2x
The boys of the J15 8
Diarmuid/David MJ15 2x
Sheila in WM 1x

Great job to all our crews & coaches. Great to finally get some racing under our belts.

Our next competitive regatta is this coming weekend (Saturday) - Lough Rynn Regatta. Best of luck to all our crews and coaches.

This is the first use of a live, online results system in Ireland for rowing and it marks a great move forward from the days of having to wait for hours or even til the next day for accurate results, with timing to 1/10th of a second, and also average calculated boat speed.

Best of luck to all our SMRC crews, and don't forget the 'after party' in Cobblestone Joe's, Ellen St., with Brian O'Connor - gig starts at 7pm. Admission is free and open to all.

2018 Head of the River update

Our annual Head of the River is moving into Limerick City this year because of flooding at O'Briensbridge. This is a great opportunity for a spectator event and the tides are perfect for it too. Happy days. All entry and prospectus details are posted on the Rowing Ireland website.

Additionally, we're having a get together and gig at Cobblestone Joe's in Ellen St. that evening. Brian O'Connor, a former member of SMRC, is flying in from Sweden just for us! Please come down for Ireland's best pizza and some great music. Admission is free and open to everyone. Please bring a friend. Time TBC.
