Imelda O’Connor, RIP

The members and committee of St. Michael’s Rowing Club, Limerick would like to express their sincere sympathies to Imelda’s husband Tom O’Connor and all her children, son in law Simon, grandchild Harry, sisters, brothers and extended family and friends. Imelda passed away on Easter Sunday and was laid to rest in Glin on Tuesday after a private family mass. Imelda was originally from Co. Monaghan and had settled in Limerick near the club with her husband Tom and loving family of Johanna, Ceara, Thomas, Michael, Patrick, James, Mary and John.

Imelda and Tom almost filled an eight for the club with their long line of children who rowed over the last 15 years since Ceara led the way. What everyone will remember of Imelda is her smile and genuine friendliness to everyone as she arrived in the family bus to and from training or races. The O’Connor girls and boys have been part of some great crews. More importantly they have built great lifelong friendships and bonds within the club over the years. Now is when those friendships are needed most to reach out and be there for the family. We also remember the Ballincollig branch of the family who run Dan Sheehan’s bar and restaurant and who we met every year at the championships.

Due to the current restrictions in travel and gatherings many members who would have been there to meet Tom and the family were unable to do so. We want to take this opportunity to express our sympathies and let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
