SMRC at The People’s Museum
At an event in The People’s Museum of Limerick yesterday the Larkin and O’Brolchain families presented an Address in appreciation from the members of Saint Michael’s Temperance Society dated 10th of May 1910 to their forebear Francis Geary on the occasion of his retirement as a club officer after many years of service.
Francis Geary was a leading member of the committee set up by the society to establish the Rowing Club in 1900-1901. The club is very grateful to the family members for this artefact and to the Limerick Civic Trust and The People’s Museum of Limerick for agreeing to add it their amazing Regatta Room collection in the museum which is well worth a visit.
Here’s and extract from the address; “We cannot pass unnoticed your unostentatious exertions towards the well-being of the boat club as you were ever ready with your valued council and integrity of purpose in helping the members in establishing the club in which your name will be always be coupled with the remembrance of kindness and good-fellowship.”
Pictured are members of the families, with members of Limerick Civic Trust at the event in the museum in Pery Square yesterday.
